Welcome to the second day of WIDE Conference!

After having been introduced yesterday to gender issues and migration policies, we are now at the First Panel on Migration in the global economic context of crisis: threatening women’s rights. We are discussing on concepts such as gender selected migration, differentiating forms of migration and citizenship, the social pressures which cause movement, borders as barriers and the struggle for equal rights and regulating of unpaid, illegal migrant work. Main speakers are: Liliya Khamzayeva, from Istiqbolli Avlod, Uzbekistan; Natalia Ribas Mateos, researcher at the University of Coruña, Spain, and Liepollo Pheko, senior policy analyst at GENTA, South Africa.
