Welcome to WIDE Annual Conference 2010: “Migration in the Context of Globalisation: Women’s Human Rights at Risk”!

The first day of the Conference has began with the Capacity Building Day where the organisers introduced to the participants the main concepts of gender issues and migration policies in Europe.

We are at the Romanian House of Parliament and there are around 100 participants. We are currently discussing the dynamics of the migration phenomenon in Romania and in the South Eastern Europe and considering Romania as a country for both destination and origin of migration.

Among the speakers we note: Mihaela Popa, Vice-Chairperson Equal Opportunities Committee, Romanian Senate, Mihaela Geoana, President Red Cross Romania, Florin Saghi, General Director Shengen Division – Ministry of Administration and Interior, Benedicte Allaert, Executive Director WIDE Network, Kinga Lohman, Executive Director KARAT Coalition. They have welcomed the guests and talked a little about gender issues in Romania.
